Things have gone horribly wrong. Get in there and see what you can do.
THERE IS NO real ENDING YET just fyi.
Just Hit It is a game-jam submission for the 5-day Interstellar Game Jam #8. (https://itch.io/jam/interstellar-game-jam-8)

Struggling to survive? Here are some insider tips:
1. It's balanced around a little grinding on every screen. Don't just head east, you'll definitely be overwhelmed by stronger enemies. In hindsight I realize I should have slowed the player down some either with maze-like rooms or simply more rooms before the difficulty spikes.
2. Damage is reduced by enemy Defense in a flat way. Combos multiply your base damage. So if you hit once, you might hit for 5, but the enemy's 4 armor deletes most of it. On the other hand, if you get two perfect hits, then a normal hit, that's a x3 combo that will do 15 damage (in this scenario), which will be reduced by the enemy's 4 defense, resulting in 11 damage. So just getting combos of 2 or 3 is the minimum for doing any damage to the harder foes. You also have a max combo stat that increases with your level, so it's very possible to get a big combo and just KO later enemies. The timing is what the game is entirely focused on and it's meant to take a little time to get there. Also, the game has no game-over or win screen. In hindsight I wish I had spent just a little more time and given it that.

I wrote the game in Python.
I made the art and sound assets during the jam period. Except for the applause/cheer sound which I got from a royalty-free sound effects site and then shortened using Audacity.
Art: 95% Aseprite, 5% GIMP (free similar to photoshop)
Sound: LMMS(A really great powerful free music/sound tool) and Audacity(lets you remove noise, do fade-in and fade-out, and other handy stuff)
